The synthesis of human motion represents one of the most challenging areas in computer animation to date. The realistic and real-time motion is desired because of the development of virtual reality and virtual human synthetic technology in recent years. This dissertation makes some researches on the methods of routine motion generation such as walking and running, and analyses efficiency and reliable. Finally, achievements are obtained as follows:(1)A new method of 3D human animation generation on uneven terrain is presented. This method is mainly based on high level parameters control mechanisms, and uses inverse kinematics algorithms to generate human animation on uneven terrain. These techniques can reduce computational time, and so ensure motions are generated in real-time. A lot of experience data are used to define characteristic parameters, and analytical methods are adopted to solve inverse kinematics problem. Besides, Geometry constrains are added to solve the inverse kinematics problems, which results reliable and faster algorithms avoiding singularity problems.(2)A method of seamless transition of different motions is provided that integrates motion blending and inverse kinematics techniques. The smooth translation of running and walking is realized using this method.(3)A preliminary study on path planning in virtual environment is made, and two ones that are the shortest path and Hypothesis-Test methods are adopted to realize the function.(4)A control system named by VHMotion is carried out. It has some advantages as follows: (1)the great capability. It can be adapted to generate human motion traveling a straight-line path on flat ground or an irregular curved path on uneven terrain, and also adapted to different characteristic figure, (2)simulation can be easily controlled. The control system can automatic generate right motion according to a few of parameters, and user don't need intervene in motion procedure.(3)natural and realistic motion can begenerated. Generated motion can reveal kinematics character of human motion; (4)quick response. Real-time motion can be achieved in virtual environment; (5)good intelligence. Virtual human can find a safe path without static obstacle and move traveling the path.
