With the rapid development of network and database technology, there is great need for different enterprises to share their information, thus the construction of the shared platform of heterogeneous databases was put forward, which mainly makes full use of the existing data resources in every database and offers the method of accessing and cooperating the heterogeneous data. Multi-directory databases are an important part of the shared platform of heterogeneous databases. This paper is focused on how to use multi-directory databases technology to manage and organize heterogeneous data source effectively, design a model of multi-directory databases which is fit for the shared platform of heterogeneous databases, solve the problem of distributed management and centralized use of information and data. Based on deeply understanding of the research level at home and abroad and the architecture of the shared platform of heterogeneous databases, the author studies directory service technology, especially LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), and then designs directory databases, provides a system framework of multi-directory databases including DIC (Directory Information Collector) of heterogeneous data, and then shows a one-time update policy to maintain the consistency of the data and directory and their copies according to the practice demand of the research task. During the period of programming, J2EE platform is mainly used, the design pattern of MVC (Model-View-Controller) is introduced so that data layer could be well separated from representation layer. Finally this paper proposes the detailed implement of LDAP and the optimal idea of LDAP server.
