With the industrial development toward automation and modernization, fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance technique is applied to enterprises widely. A practical fault diagnosis system is mainly related to how to manage a mass of complicated data efficiently. The methods of object-oriented technique, database technique and software modularization are discussed in details. With fast developing computer and network techniques of communication and fault diagnosis for equipment, a model of remote fault diagnosis based on Intranet is researched which is to be a new scheme.The developing status and trend of fault diagnosis technique is studied. To meet the practical needs of fault diagnosis of pump unit in Shanghai Wuzhong Pump Station, both the hardware and software development schemes for the online monitoring and diagnosis system are put forward.Theories and methods of database design are researched. By abstracting and summarizing the complicated data in fault diagnosis field with object-oriented method, a class-level structure is set up. And a database model which is global, easy to manage, maintain and extend is proposed. While discussing database connectivity styles, ODBC, which can load data sources dynamically, is selected to connect the main program and the database. According to the development flow of database application systems, the system framework and each signal analysis and fault diagnosis module are emphasized. To save memory, share codes and facilitate upgrade, the technology of DLL is adopted to realize all the modules.The remote fault diagnosis scheme is researched. Windows terminal server is used to realize the communication and transportation in LAN. With the terminal service technology, the terminal server can be connected to monitor and control data acquisition, analyze signals, predict and diagnose faults of equipment. To transport data from the remote server to the client end, the tool of wget is adopted successfully.
