Along with the development of computer networks, especially the Internet,network-based distributed information systems have gained wide application in variousfields. At the same time, due to noncomparable outstanding advantage eXtensibleMarkup Language has emerged as the leading language for representing and exchanging data overthe Internet. This dissertation is directed to distributed information system, and the prevalentdistributed object technologies are discussed. Aimming at the various of disadvantagesof the present technologies, we introduce the eXtensible Markup Language and SimpleObject Access Protocol as data representation manner and message transfer mechanism, separately. Ulteriorly, the application of XML in distributed information system hasbeen studied.Firstly, the extensible problem of the present information systems are discussedand the author proposed that XML can be used as interact language betweeninformation systems and plug-ins. Secondly, a distributed architecture based oncomponent manager mode which solves the existing problems in prevalent distributedarchitecture is proposed . Heterogeneous information source integration is alsodiscussed and a Wrapper architecture using XML as common data interface is proposed. Finally, based on the model, parts of applications are realized by programming and thefeasibility and validity of this architecture are proved by example.
