In-building power line data communication is a convenient and economical method to implement home automation and home network. This paper designs an in-building power line DSSS communication system after analyzing the properties of power line channel in detail.This paper designs a measurement system and measures the main properties of power line practically. The characteristics of power line are analyzed in detail, and a power line channel model is presented which consists of the parametric transfer function model and the simulating model of background noise, narrow noise and impulse noise. Simultaneously the simulating method on the computer is presented.Problems in power line communication and the methods to resolve them are discussed. This paper compares the technology used currently in power line communication and discusses the advantage of DSSS technology to use in power line communication.An in-building power line data communication system is built using DSSS and QPSK technology and its important parameters are presented. Then the system is simulated in Systemview to analyze its performance and BER. At the end of this paper the DSSS system is compared with two different systems to emphasize its perfect performance.
