Grid technology develops rapidly with Internet technology and is a new-style computing mode focusing specially on complicated scientific computing. The first section in this paper addresses the basic knowledge such as the elementary concept for grid, grid system architecture and the manner of grid using. The working state of resources and the issue representing resources in grid environment are always hot problems among academia. Through monitoring the working state of grid node resources can be allocated and controlled effectively and through universal resources expression manner resources can be shared and utilized effectively. Two resources monitoring models are presented. One is based on LDAP, the other based on DAG. Experimentation is practiced with respect to the working status of hosts in local networks. The hosts running monitoring program put monitoring system information into a temporary table at regular intervals (this table is refreshed every a while), and at the same time these data will be shown in grid monitoring view. Then after a longer while the data in the temporary table are put into a history table. The independence of platform to XML and the strictness of syntax to RDF make them a perfect combination in representing grid resources metadata. RDF description based XML with allocating grid resources is discussed in the paper.Globus Toolkit has been gained application in many large-scale projects around the world as a service set based on communities, open structure and open source code and software library supporting gird and grid application. Globus Toolkit resolves the problems of security, information discovery, resources management, data management, communicating, fault detection and transplanting. Globus Toolkit 3.0 of the last Globus toolkit using Web Services technology based on OGSA considers all grid resources as services (a special service), which make the development of grid application program more simple and practical. The third section in the paper discusses in detail the components of Globus Toolkit and Globus Toolkit 3.0 based on OGSA and a relevant demonstration is listed.
