Sonar signal processing remains the most complicated branch in the field of signal due to such reason as the complexity of underwater acoustic channels. The most important characteristic of the development of sonar technology is using the technology of digital signal processing widely. But the processing rate doesn' t meet the need of practical applications. Because the parallel processing remains the latent capacity of raising the processing rate and solving the mass problem, parallel signal processing became an important characteristic of the modern digital signal processing. So the egress of digital processing system lies in the parallel architecture. In this paper, a signal processing system based on PCI bus is designed and completed, which is made up of four chips of ADSP21060 (SHARC) which the most advanced parallel DSP device. Because of using the advanced DSP, popular high speed PCI bus and large scale FPGA, using VHDL hardware descriptive language to design the interface logic, the level of designed hardware is to a certain degree. This parallel processing system can be easily expanded to more complicated architecture to adapt to the various parallel algorithms. In this paper, the main works are as follows: 1.A parallel signal processing system with four ADSP21060 processors has been developed. 2. The interface logic between the ADD-ON bus of S5933 and the Host interface of SHARC is designed and realized.3. The WDM driver of the PCI bus device is compiled. 4. The data reading, writing and BootLoad through the SHARC' s Host interface have been debugged.
