Study On Data Warehouse Processes Management

At present, the Decision Support System (DSS) and Data Mining (DM) have been extensively applied. And at the same time, the Data Warehouse and Data Mart technologies, which are the information origin for the DSS and DM, have been extensively evolved also．The importance of Data Warehouse and Data Mart is that they offer a data environment for DSS and DM. Hence, it is obvious that the importance of Data warehouse and Data Mart. Presently, The researches on data warehouse are mainly focused on how to extract, load, clean, compute, aggregate data and how to improve Storage Structure in data warehouse. But, the management of Data Warehouse process self is little noted. With adding novel information source and application requirement, it is very important to how to manage data warehouse process and enable data warehouse to automatically adapt these varieties and evolutions Based on the above-motioned problem, firstly, the relevant theory of Data Warehouse is introduced in detail. Then. A new metamodel about Data Warehouse process management is proposed. The proposed metamodel is capable of modeling complex activities, their interrelationships, and the relationship of activities with data sources and execution details. We can design, administer and facilitate the evolution of the date warehouse by means of the exploitation of the entities of this metamodel.Finally, the model, which is used to design, realize, and manage Data Warehouse and Data Warehouse Process, is applied to the development of "Motor sale Data Warehouse System" project. Some examples illustrate the correctness of our approach.
