Information portals on the Internet are springing up in multitude over the last few years because of rapidly increasing of the digital resources and resource type. Resources scattered here and there have been categorized into portals for the convenient of browsing, searching and using. Hence the concept of resource syndication was introduced. The difference in protocols, platform, development tools inter systems hinders the sharing of information and services. An open and public standard is needed for open description, discovery and integration of resource. At the same time, the syndication and customization system which provides personalization services according to the disciplines, activity, role and preference of the users' is essential. In the thesis, the theory, background and realization of the Open Syndication and Customization System is analyzed in this paper, and the system architecture and the mechanism and technologies of the system are present. Based on them, a system of "MyLibrary@CAS(Library of Chinese Academic of Sciences)" is designed and realized.First, the concept and the scope of Open Syndication and Customization System is defined in the paper. It also discusses the approach, function, technologies and standards used by the emerging systems at home and abroad. The Open Syndication and Customization System Architecture and application objective have been proposed. And the development platform, programming language, databaseand standard of metadata, which the system adopted are introduced.Part 4 and 5 of this paper introduce MyLibrary@CAS which I collaborate on with Library of Chinese Academic of Sciences, and discuss detailed database design, function design and technologies of realization. The key part is illustrated by flow chart and Perl source code. Finally, the function of the system is estimated. Some problems remained and the solutions are discussed. The prospect of information syndication services is also been looked at.
