Traditional architecture based on client/server has been widely deployed, but it is short of high availability and administrable ability, user must cost much on application upgrade and management. Along with the progress of network technologies, mutilayer-distributed cluster architecture has gradually become the mainstream. It not only has higher performance/price proportion, but also provides much better expansibility.Base on the ideology of mutilayer-distributed cluster architecture, the author probes into the cluster's technology, designes and implementes Virtual Operating Environment system. The system adoptes a network management model of network console, controlled nodes and agent and uses SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) as its standard protocol, communicating with other protocols. User can access information of repository and log repository on the console, acquiring system information such as load information, hardware parts' composition, partitions' composition,etc. At the same time, they can take actions on system, for example, changing the composition, closing, start the partition. On the other hand, a agent can also send messages to console without receive a request from user or administrator.The development of system is based on scaleable partition server's flexible configure of resource. It units with cluster manage software and controls partititions which share the same hardware resources. Through Virtual Operating Environment software, hardware resources can be shared among servers, and you can redistributes or add new hardware according to requirement. Therefore, system can made full use of resource and provide higher expansibility; When some hardware failure, Virtual Operating Environment can provide agility, timely system recovery, improving system's availability.Object-Oriented language Java is adopted for developing Virtual Operating Environment system, and Java RMI technology is used to implement information's transmission between sever and clients.During the research of user interface and its interface with engine, author mainly designs and implements the functions of event handling, RMI and object tree management. Author uses the ideology of design pattern, improving system's expansibility.Now Virtual Operating Environment system has been plunghed into market, gaining the users' high appraisement and obtaining well economic benefit.
