Data traffic is one of the most important components of the control of the propulsion system of naval vessels, and the speed, reliability and security of it is related with the effect and efficiency of the control system. The research on it is important. The simulation of the running attitude of the ship in the sea by using computer is too important to the research of the propulsion system of ships, and it can be used in labs. The two parts are involved in this paper and a CAN card based on PCI bus and the 3D computer software that simulates the running attitude of the submarine in the sea are developed successfully. The major content are following:A. The hardware design of the CAN car based on PCI bus is finished and a CAN card is produced. A technology is explored that a PCI device is developed rapidly too.B. Using the VC and the DDK develops the device driver of the CAN card based on PCI bus. The type of the driver is WDM, and it can be running in Windows 2000. The computer technology that the device driver is developed is explored too.C. Using the OpenGL technology and VC a 3D computer software that simulates the running attitude of the submarine that propelled by the propulsion system in the sea is developed successfully.The CAN card can be running in Windows 2000 steadily and safely. The development is successful. The computer software is a part of the control device of the electric power propulsion system which is a project among the "211" projects. The software can be running steadily and be praised by the experts and attendees.
