The complexity of thermal power system is increasing, thus the expense of development for thermal power system is getting more expensive, the developing cycle is becoming longer and longer. Since 1980s, the computer technology has been developing rapidly. There is a trend in nowadays computer simulation, that is applying computer graphic technology to thermal power system simulation software. In order to quicken the rapidity of developing for thermal power system and decrease the expense of developing, it is very significant to design a flexible, convenient and excellent graphic modeling software for thermal power system.On the basis of in-depth analysis of graphic modeling technology, adopting VC++ as the developing tool, in this dissertation, a software of graphic modeling for thermal power system was designed on Windows/NT operating system. In the development process, according to the idea of modular modeling, the author rationally compartmentalized thermal system. This software has very strong graphic module edit and manage capacity, thus device interface topologic definition method is applied to define the topologic structure, and the topologic structure can be analyzed automatically and correctly. Since the device module was encapsulated two parts, so, through topologic analysis, the correct source simulation program was created directly. Further more, an interface was provided for user, through which user could add new module into module library.In the development process, the dissertation analyzed some other graphic modeling platform, then used rational techniques to develop its own graphic modeling software. Compared with other modeling software, this software could directly create the source simulation program, and it has some advantages, such as intelligence, robustness, opening capacity and so on.
