The growth of technique for modern remote education has changed the traditional face-to-face education through audio- and vedio- media, as well as computer and Internet network technologies, overcome the limit in space and time, and achieved share in the finite education resource, to make more and more people to have chance to learn. It is an important matter to research on web-based laboratory system for the modern remote education. From the demand of science and engineering courses in remote education, the Web-based laboratory system for electric and electronic experiments has been established by teachers and students in the electric and electronic teaching base of Chongqing University, who combine advanced electronic and computer network techique. This is a new attempt at design and implement of software and hardware.This paper brings forward a design and development scheme for software plate of remote experiment system, relying on computer and network techniques. Firstly, aiming at the remarkable characteristics of web sites, it discusses the state of the art in researching on Web-Server cluster systems, and brings forward a whole architecture of remote experiment system as well as education web site. On the basis of this, it design and achieve a content-based dispatching algorithm running on application layer for multiple services, named as MC-RR. By qualitative analysis to this algorithm, it is sure to guarantee the expansibility and load banlance of system well. So it can be made a conclusion that this scheme could be realized.Secondly, because the traditional Web server has some shortcoming and can not be connected directly with harware and devices, a special web server is described by this paper, which can support the interface for experiment devices. To ensure real-time characteristic of system, the paper specially presents a real-time task scheduling algorithm for commands (named RTCS) of operating experiment devices.At last, the paper simply introduces the course of operating experiments remotely, and presents the running state of system, as well as raises some advice to promote the system in future.Through the design and development of remote experiment system, a distance education site (see at http://www.remote-lab.net) mainly of remote electric and electronic experiments has been established successfully by the electric and electronicteaching base of Chongqing University. It not only supply a plate of operating remote experiment to a lot of people, but also is becoming a basis of researching on modern network laboratory. This paper states a new system aritechture by using advanced techniques, and presents a technical way to realize remote experiments basing on the aritechture, as well as combining technology of digital electrical with computer network. It is particular to set up this remote education site with advanced architecture and technique. And it is heuristic to develop tasks about remote control.
