The typical value-added services of intelligent community are satellite digital TV and VOD(Video On Demand).Compared with traditional TV, which adopts analog signals, digital TV has improved greatly. VOD changed the way people watch program. Instead of being negative, they now can be positive. They not only can watch what they want at the wanted time, but also can control the program they watch. This thesis mainly discusses the system of digital TV access and VOD in intelligent community. It consists of nine chapters. The first chapter analyzes the background of the system, including the introduction of intelligent community, digital TV and VOD. The second chapter gives an introduction to the whole system, including the choice of community Wide Band access scheme and the relationship of each module. The following six chapters analyze the six modules: Satellite program receiving, channel multicasting, program storing, multicasting server buffering , VOD service and End-User receiving, illuminate the key technology of each module. The last chapter is a general statement of the system and future work.
