In an era of post-pc, the important trend is to connect the embedded devices onto the network. On one hand, because of the restriction on the bulk of the embedded devices, the network on which embedded devices are connected must change from the wired network to the wireless network. On the other hand, the essential requirements of embedded: devices are low cost and low power consumption, so how to combine the embedded systems with Bluetooth technology is currently investigated intensively. At the beginning of the thesis, I briefly introduce the concepts of the Bluetooth technology, Bluetooth specification and the protocol architecture of Bluetooth system. In the second part, an embedded product and its corresponding development tool used in my design are presented. What important in this part is the description of the development environment桪ynamic C. The emphases are put on the differences between ANSI C and Dynamic C and the enhancements to Standard C. The main point of the thesis is about how to implement the Bluetooth specification in Dynamic C, i.e. to transfer Bluetooth protocol stack under Linux into the Dynamic C environment. In this part, the description of L2CAP, HCI, SDP and RFCOMM layers and their implementation are given. At the end, the problems encountered on the process of design and implementation and the solutions to them are discussed. The task of implementing Bluetooth functionson the embedded devices is challenging and will open up broad prospects for pervasive computing^The research work presented here has made solid progress in this area.
