Since it influence the ecosystem security and national security greatly, Land Use/Cover Change (LUCC) has become the focus of the international environment change research not long years ago. With the development of "3S" technique which takes geography information system (GIS) as the core, Land cover change research becomes convenient on technology, and it has been the core and focus of the land science and international environment change research now. The region of this research is the Three-Parallel-River Region's centre and the international river Lan cang (Mekong) River's upriver area. It has abundant species resource, but its ecosystem is frail for its alp and gorge terrain .The land cover change of this region will not only make local environment change, but also influence the ecosystem security of those countries which locate the Lantcang (Mekong) River's downstream area So the research of Land Use/Cover Change has important significance of theory and practices .This research depends on "3S" technique. With the landscape ecological theory's direction, it worked along the technical route :TM remote sensing image enhance- TM remote sensing image classify- pick up forest information with ND VI-" convert raster data to vectorgraph, and analyse data with GIS software.This research include following content: 1) The concept of Land Use/Cover Change (LUCC) and its development; 2) Research land cover space shape character and change of space-time ; 3) Fractal theory and its development, apply fractal theory to research sample region land cover's fractal dimension and non-scale space; 4) Reference statistical data, research land cover change's influence , land cover change's drive factor and land resource durative use.The research result is:(1) From early 1990's to 1900's end , the sample region's landscape fragmentized degree increased. Forest of the sample region has decreased 10.02% , forest cover rate decreased 5.75% in the ten years. The lost Forest mainly became bosk and meadow. The bosk's area increased greatly, and the meadow's area decreased. Many bosk and meadow became plantation. Quite a few of them change mutually with plantation. Plantation and building area increased.(2) Fractal dimension D2 has more application value, because it can reflect the complex degree and space shape random Brownian motion's stability of the land cover patch. Fractal dimension and roundness have negative correlation. Sample region landscape's stability decreased . Forest fractal dimension decreased This means forest's shape became simple, human's influence increased. On the other hand, the Fractal dimension of bosk and meadow increased, it shows their shape became complex, and their evolvement became more random. Plantation's fractal dimension is small, but its fractal dimension increased. Expend of plantation tend to random. Explore non-scale space is important, but the research object is very complex and a lot of technical difficulty, the result is not so perfect. The research needs more deepen .(3) Land cover change threaten the region ecosystem security, and endanger local economics. The drive factor is local economic action, which use natural resource immoderately. To make the land resource durative use, advansed technology and compensatory economic policy is necessary.
