The Implementation And Application Of DM3 Database Manager

During the search and development of database, the function of the database manager is very notable. One applied and commercial DBMS must provide powerful and convenient database managing tools.Database manager is important part of the DBMS, it provide perfect and convenient manage function, and it can largely reduce the maintenance cost of customers, then the customers can pay more attention on the development of business. This article concretely discussed the realization theory and technology of the database manager basing on the homemade DBMS-DM3.We have finished ten basic modules of database manager and two assistant tools-query tool and report tool in this project. DM3 database manager is client-side tool of DM3 basing on Windows 98/NT/2000/XP operating system, and it is the interactive operating tool of database facing the EU. It can roundly manage database of DM3 under conditions of not recurring to other tools. Database manager have met routine management requirement of users and supported software development of DM3, it is very important in DM3. We realize each management task of database manager through the medium of ODBC as interface of data access in this project. This database manager not only faces DM3 but also can manage the leading DBMS, so it can meet all kinds of requirement of different level users. The query tool is an assistant tool of the database manager, and it can define a query sentence accord with SQL standard. The query tool provides the visual and wizard definition environment for query language, so users can expediently and effectively define query sentence. Query tool conveniences users' query operation to database and improves query efficiency. Report tool provides the following function: users can freely edit and define all kinds of report, and they can revise these report style at any moment; user can neatly set, define, revise the data resource of report; user can visually operate report and have no use for programming.
