Research On The Feature Modelling Technology In Collaborative Design

An integrated information model of a product should include not only the information of the product's geometry and topology, but also its machining process information of manufacture oriented. Feature technology is one of CAD/CAPP/CAM core technology since it has superiority on the expression of parts' information which includes parts' shapes, structures and manufacture characteristics. Feature modeling based on the collaborative design is a new kind of techology oriented to concurrent design in network environment.Supported by the NSFC (NO.50175113), major work in this paper are as follows.1 Summarized the state of the art in feature techniques and discussed the definition and the classification of feature in the collaborative design environment, specially the local operability of feature modeling.2 Investigated the principle and the methodology of the classification about the form feature in engineering field. Described the classification system of the form feature.3 Analysed the request of the form feature modeling and developed a prototype system of the feature modeling in the collaborative design environment. Described in detail every function module and its workflow in the prototype system.4 Discussed in detail the methodology of the local operation of the form feature modeling. Based on the second development method of Pro/E,developed the Eular elements operation library and the form feature library in Pro/E environment,and achieved preliminarily the 3D local operation of the form feature model.
