With the market competition increasing, in order to shorten product development cycle and reduce the development costs, product design is changed form the traditional serial-type process to the parallel, collaborative development process. Distribute Collaborative Design (DCD) is the new product design idea which is begun at the 1990s in the 20th century, it is used to organize the multidisciplinary experts to realize the complex products'collaborative development which is needed to across the regions and time. At the same time, the rapid development of Internet/Intranet (Net bandwidth is now available M bps level, and even reached G bps level) provides the possibility of the application of the collaborative design. However, the collaborative design is a parallel integration's process optimization, but now in the collaborative design the feature modeling depends on the designing history and data quantity is heavy, so the results of the practical application are not satisfactory. On the basis of analyzing some collaborative design frameworks, this paper introduces the Cellular Semantic Feature Modeling to the collaborative design, realizes this modeling in the network. The cellular semantic feature modeling researches the expressing methods of the feature modeling from the level of geometric model elements, lets its features'modification not depends on the design history tree through the Feature Depending Graph (FDG), thus it avoids the problem of depending on the design history in the modeling design system. This paper proposes a new collaborative design framework C-HUSTCAID on the basis of research of the HUST-CAID system, this framework uses XML to keep the model's info and data binds of the documents, handles the model's date on the net, uses RMI technology and uses maintaining the feature conformity to resolve the conflict in the collaborative design. This framework overcomes the shortcoming of depending on the design history, and has a good effect on the...
