With the development of semiconductor technology, the speed of Digital Signal Processor (DSP) has become more and more higher. Meanwhile, with the promotion of performance of DSP, the research emphasis of digital signal processing transferred from unreal-time application to high-speed real-time application. More consideration on the design of hardware and software of DSP system is required according to complex real-time application. This dissertation, taking an accomplished project as background and presenting the meeting of deadline of fixed DSP system as center, researches in terms of both hardware and software. It is always expected that, in real-time application, processors run at speed as high as possible. Compared with other processors, there are not only commonness in design of hardware system, but its own characteristics. The beginning of hardware chapter discusses mainly on application that tends to make speed low and puts forward the low-cost solution accordingly to such three probems as the interface with the chips that run at different speed, the chips with time-sharing bus and the design of the shared memory in multi-CPUs system. Moreover, the design of floating-point coprocessor, which is offered to those systems that are built with fixed DSP and demand better floating-point performance, is shown at the end of the chapter. It, based on FPGA, can promote float-point calculating speed on a large scale.Another challenge that complex real-time system is confronted with is rationally organizing multi-task program. On the condition that a number of functions need to be accomplished and there are strict deadline, it is very difficult to reach the goal by using common program architecture. The dissertation presents a scheme of RTOS nuclear to resolve it, which realizes such five functions as tasks scheduling, memory management, tasks communication, interrupts handling and clock services. The code and data structure of the RTOS nuclear is optimized according to instruction set of fixed DSP of TI Co. and provides flexible programming modes and effective multitasking management methods to customers at the cost of rather lowoverhead.
