On the basis of the existing electronic weight sorter controlled by PC, a new microcomputer control and measurement system is developed, which reduces the cost of the device and keeps the former system's main function. This system uses AT89C51 microcomputer as its core and is also provided with some correlative circuits, including a signal adjustment circuit, an A/D convert circuit, a signal output circuit and a display/keyboard unit. When it works, the system receives analog voltage signals produced by fruits from a pressure sensor, and these signals are sent to an A/D converter after they are amplified and filtered by the signal adjustment circuit. Then, these analog voltage signals are converted to digital signals, which are sent to AT89C51 microcomputer. After digital signals processed by the system software, every fruit's sorting level is deduced. Finally, the system can output switch signals to open the sorting switches according to fruits' weight, and fruits are dynamically measured and sorted in real time. The experiment results indicate that this system works well and can be easily controlled; meanwhile it is multipurpose by setting nine sorting levels to sort different kinds of fruits.
