Optical Time Domain Reflectometer(OTDR) is a kind of the new type optical malfunction measuring equipment that developed in 1980's. In project the important function of OTDR is searching the break point and locating it. Upon being put forward, it attracted much notice for its special un-destroy measure, safety, functions and convenient use.Most of OTDR have the common disadvantage of low speed. The main reason is that the add technolgy is completed using software rather than hardware so that it lost much valuable data. In this paper, the author puts a new method to resolve this problem. That is, add arithmetic is completed by hardware which can improve enormously the system speed and performance. It is also estimated that the price is much less than the similar product.The author introduces briefly the development of OTDR and expounds the framework and working principle, the author derived the system design theory.At last, listed the measurement results of this system, analyzed the factor resulted in the unstable of system and the improved method.
