EAF(Electric Arc Furnace), LF and VD are key equipments of steel-making. EAF is used for melting disposed steel, increasing temperature and necessarily fining, such as dephosphorization and decarbonization. So real-time and exact forecast of steel temperature is very important to consummate smelt operation as well as ensuring the quality of finished steel. According to the manufacture practice and referring to correlated literature, two methods were applied here and carried through separately with two phases for forecasting the steel temperature.The first phase is the period from the furnace's order notification to the first time of measuring temperature with thermocouple, the conventional method ofstatistical analysis-- regression analytical method for forecasting molten steel,was used.The second phase is the period from the end of the first phase to the end of tapping. The method of modeling forecasting molten steel based on artificial neural network and expert system was firstly put forward. Furthermore, it is applied successfully to the electric furnace in the XingCheng Special Steel Corporation and has an advantage of high veracity and easiness to be used on site.
