Computer Aided Design(CAD) technique is widely used in packaging, it involves the producing management of packaging enterprise, packaging structure CAD, packaging forming CAD, cushioning packaging CAD and so on. In recent years, package industry in foreign countries, especially in Europe, U.S.A, Japan and some developed countries have developed rapidly. With the cooperation of packaging and software trades, they developed practical and functional packaging system. Packaging trades are automated and computerized highly, developing with internet, information, and intelligence. In China, some university and research institute, such as PKU Founder Corporation, Northwest Institute of Light Industry, Tianjin University of Light Industry are studying the packaging CAD system. Some practical and functional packaging system such as packaging structure CAD, packaging forming CAD, cushioning packaging CAD and so on has been developed. And this takes an important part in improving packaging techniques and stimulating the development of packaging industry.In this paper, the research & development of the CAD system of corrugated box structure-CBSCAD are mainly discussed. The CBSCAD system is realized by the technique of software engineering. It is a vector graph system developed with Visual C++6.0 and based on 32-bit Windows98 platform. The main functions of the CBSCAD system include: 1.drawing enough graph elements: line, rectangular, arc, ellipse, curve and text and so on; 2.operating graphs: selecting, zooming, moving restoring and so on; 3.setting the style and color of the graphs; 4.drawing international standard box and modifying its properties; 5.designing all kinds of box and setting or modifying the properties of the graphs and box.
