Research On Domain Data Integration Platform Based On CORBA/XML

There are some problems in the development of computer software in the water resources domain, such as a long period for development, high expense of maintenance, repeated development, etc. Component-based software development is one of the effective methods to solve the problem, because it can improve the reuse of software. At the same time, domain data are complicate, and the representation forms are various, although data of each department have many similarities. Middleware can hide the differences in the underlying communication protocols, system architectures, operation systems, databases and other application services. So it can be used to solve the data integration problem. Setting up domain data integration based on middleware can reduce the dependency of domain components on domain data, improve independency of domain components, and widen the scope of reuse.Based on the background technologies including component, middleware, data integration, XML, the paper explored methods to domain data integration. The main work are as follows:(1) Analyze the relationship between component and data. The pivots are domain data characteristics, the relationship between domain component and domain data.(2) Discuss the data integration framework using CORBA or XML technology.(3) Compare the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods, design the data integration framework using CORBA and XML.(4) Aiming at the heterogeneous data types and semantic in the water resources domain, a prototype based on the domain data integration platform is presented.
