Email has been in general use for its convenience, rapidity, cheapness, easy saving and management. However, the traditional Email Systems have some insecure factor, such as the content of Email may be read, modified or intercepted in course of mailing and mailer can be fabricated. The traditional Email Systems are not suitable for transferring important information.This paper implements a secure Email System providing Digital Signature and Encryption, called as JIMAOXIN(Version 1.0), which has the following important characteristics: confidentiality, authentication, message integrity assurance, and non-repudiation of origin. It reaches the level of commerce.This paper introduces the basic theory of traditional cryptography and public key cryptography and some protocols of Email System, such as SMTP, POP3, MIME and MOSS. It analyses and evaluates some popular secure standards of Email. At last, The paper discusses the design and implementation of JIMAOXIN.JIMAOXIN has three notable characteristics: independent intellectual property, without network secure holes in contrast'to products abroad and achieving military cryptographic level. It effectively solves several secure problems in traditional Email System. JIMAOXIN is suitable not only for general users but also confidential departments. This is the main significance of this paper.
