The opening and globality of Web greatly promote the rapid development of Internet. However, it also brings alone the challenges from security and performance of network. How to supply network service with high performance is one of the substantial topics within numerous computer technologies to build an e-government or e-commerce scheme. Our work is a part of a key research project of Fujian province-Information Network Security Protection Techniques (No. 2001H103). This paper proposes the Clustering technology to give a secure web service with high performance. Focusing on the important problem-load balance, we will discuss in two perspectives: architecture and load scheduling. We can load balance a Web Cluster from client, server and network. On the basis of some traditional methods introduced, we will put forward a hybrid model of DNS (working on Layer-3) and LVS (working on Layer-7). There are obvious advantages as follows: l)supporting multiple operation systems in the backup servers pool; 2)supporting WAN-distributed backup servers;3)high scalability. Furthermore, we will discuss the availability and security of this model.Basing the traditional algorithms, we will put forward a new load scheduling method. Three facets are concerned as follows: l)workload, which is estimated by a new and more precise method with multiple parameters and feedback mechanism; 2)the locality of web access, which can be used to enhance the cache rate; 3)the dividing of static and dynamic requests, which is proved to work far more effectively than the mixed one. An improved algorithm named Consistent Hashing and an immigration method of nodes are proposed to fulfill a comprehensive scheduling concerning all the three facets. Finally, some implemental details and experimental data are also discussed in this paper.
