The optimal control, monitoring and fault detection of fed-batch fermentation remain a challenging issue. Although there are many theory results, the actual effect of them is poor. Meanwhile, a large amount of process data is stored up with the progress of fermentation. To find the wealthy information from the abundant fermentation data, the Multi-way Principal Component Analysis is studied. The whole study is divided into three parts as following:1.Study of optimal control of fed-batch fermentation. In this paper, the approach which combines optimal method based on model with process analysis is presented. In practical process, this approach is operational and accurate.2.A control software of fermentation (APC-BIO) is given. A set of optimal software based on provided method is developed. The function and design of this software are introduced in detail.3.Application of software based on MPCA. The theory of PCA is introduced, and a set of software based on MPCA is developed. Fully utilized the process data, a MPCA model is built in this system. On the basis of this model, the analysis, assessment, monitoring and fault detection of fermentation process is executed. Finally, the efficiency of MPCA is proved through the analysis of streptomycin fermentation data.
