The Research Of Video Image Compression System Based On Dsp

Today, the video supervise system in our country梚ncluding the traditional analog video supervise system and the more advanced video supervise system based on computer video recorder use the axis cable to transmit the video signal from video camera to video recorder. When the distance between video camera and video recorder is very longer or the number of video camera is big , we have to use a great deal of axis cable, then the image transmission become the bottle-neck of the video supervise system, but compressing the video image at the place of signal resource can solve this problem.In this paper, we research the realization method of the video image compression and transmission system in software and hardware. We make a special effort to research these problems such as gathering the video image, optimizing the circut of the hi-speed DSP application system, expanding big capacity momory, transmiting image data by RS-485 bus, realizing the JPEG algorithms with DSP, transmission control protocol of the video supervise system and so on.We have designed a kind of portable video image compressing card with TMS320C5402 DSP. The card is a independent instrument which can do white-black video image digitization, eompresing, coding and transmit the compressed image data to host computer by RS-485 bus, so the card can solve the bottle-neck problem of the video supervise system completely.
