Research On Key Technologies Of APON

This thesis is mainly about the key technoIogy of a passive optical network basedon ATM(APON).First, the basic concept of APON is introduced, emphasis on thenetwork architecture, functional blocks and protocol reference model. In the second pall,some problems encountered in the upstream TDMA transmission are resolved. A mediaaccess control(MAC) scheme based on delay priority is presented firstly, which uses thedifferent grant distribution algorithIn for services with the different delay requirements.Then the static and dynamic ranging technology is studied, in which the principle of"opening ranging window" and the ranging meti1od are presented in detail. The burstmode receiving technology is analyzed at last, including the principle of the burst modeoptical receiver, the BER perfOrmance and the method of the burst synchronization. Inthe third part, associated with science research prOject, the function of OLT ATM layeris designed and implemented.
