There are many advantages of pulsed laser ranging (PLR) that it is widely used, but the drawback is that its ranging precision is lower than the phase laser ranging, so it's important to study how to improve the precision of PLR. Based on this background, by starting of improving the precision of PLR, this paper focus on studying key technologies of high-precision PLR, and deeply study into the most important algorithms in applications of static and dynamic ranging.Firstly, analyze the various factors that impact the precision of PLR, mainly including the precision of identifying arriving moment and measuring time interval, and then propose kinds of methods to improve the precision of PLR, including methods that improve the precision of identifying arriving moment and measuring time interval.Secondly, study the high-precision ranging algorithms in applications of static and dynamic ranging. After experimental simulation and comparison of kinds of common methods, an improved algorithm called Sliding Window Centroid (SWC) algorithm is proposed to be used in short-range static ranging, and Multi-pulse Accumulation (MPA) algorithm is added to SWC to be used in remote static ranging, and Statistics Weighted Average (SWA) algorithm is proposed to eliminate the random error and improve the ranging precision further. Besides, the fast high-precision algorithm of dynamic ranging is Wavelet Transformation Maximum (WTM) algorithm which is improved from Wavelet Transform algorithm.Finally, build hardware and software platform of the system, propose the indicators of the system performance, verify the effectiveness of the algorithms through experiments, and describe the methods of system calibration. Experimental data show that the ranging algorithms can meet the requirements of ranging precision and processing time of system in both applications.
