Large diameter and high precision mesh shape antenna reflectors are needed for thedeveloping satellite communication and space observation, so shape precision control ofmesh shape antenna reflector at orbit has become one of the major developing trends ofmodern space technique. Because use of the control at orbit has great advantage to adaptthe antenna reflector to the uncertain environment and disturbance ,space organizationsall over the world pay more and more attention to this promising technology.The aim of this paper consists in finding and dicussing a new way to control theshape precision of antenna. Through introducing the intelligent structures ,the system ofmesh shape antenna realizes the intelligent control. Mode analysis technology is appliedto optimize placements of intelligent structures in the mesh shape with the characteristicof large size and flexibility. The modal important factor is defined ,then ,by weightingthe candidate active members strain energy in each mode by the corresponding modalimportance factors the information of optimal placements is obtained. He., control theoryconjuncting intelligent structures is used to restrain the vibration of the mesh shapeantenna. With the results of simulation, we have found that the control method is veryeffective.
