Investigate the cause of network security problem, research network security based on the Internet protocol and find the way to construct secure network entironment, are very important both in theory investigation and practice application. At the first of this paper, we summarize the computer network security, (Iescribe the content and the current situation of the computer network. Based on the discussion of TCP/IP protocol, we discuss the security of I扖P/IP protocol, as well as the main hidden troubles in the protocol. By .tnalysis of the achievements in the research of secure protocol, we put Forward the point of view that the data of?packet should he encrypted and rhe head of the packet should be authenticated. At present, the important step in protecting network security is to construct lArewall, so the techniques of firewall are discussd with emphasis, an(l the Packet Filter Firewall and the Proxy Server firewall are described respectively. In the Project of?campus firewall, we design and develop a complex firewall with acket filter and transparent proxy functions. This firewall has been 憃mpleted, and used in the campus network.
