Application Of Firewall In Campus Network

In an information era under rapid development, the Internet has beenexpanding. Because the Internet information content is larger and larger, the topologystructure is increasingly complex and more network vulnerability appears, easilycontributing to the network intrusion and attacks by hackers’ and illegal Internet users,which causes serious damage to our network information security. Therefore, in everystage, all the paths and joints of Internet use, data transmission, information exchangeneed the real-time monitoring of network state and effective protection to the data andinformation. Along with the boost of college and university informationization, agrowing number of complex application system are widely used. Therefore, thenetwork security threats do exist, either. In the campus network, all the small servergroup form a complete service system, including DNS, virtual host, FTP, click PT,information portal and mail service. Different paths link campus network to theeducation network, mobile network, telecom network and government. But withstudents’ increasing demand of information, the export bandwidth of campus networkmust also increase.With the gradual increases of the application service system andcampus network users, the number of network security problem are growing and theproblem is increasingly serious.From the perspective of the security of campus network information and itscharacteristics, the security threats and key technology of network security, this articleintroduces the related knowledge in the field of computer network security. Then,starting from the basic concept and characteristic of the firewall, it focuses on thefirewall’s system architecture, deployment and the use configuration.In addition, taking the current situation of a university network operation andfirewall current state (as an example), this paper also aims at expounding theapplication of firewall in the campus network, and illustrating the important role ofthe firewall in the Internet and the actual protective effect. Finally, based on theprinciple of packet filtering firewall technology, countering the common problems inthe campus network in daily life, it designs the corresponding firewall, and uses thenewly-configurated firewall in small range LAN using to test its effect. According tothe discussion and practice verification, the redesigned firewall system plays an important protective role in network security of enterprises, reducing the influencefactors from different aspects of network information security, effectively solving thecurrent network information security problems existing in the school.
