According to analyzing the environment of CAT system, user requirements and system function, this paper introduces a designing method of real-time multi-tasking software based on 32-bit WINDOWS operating system. This paper also put forward a way that realizes data processing and interface function by using Visual C++ and Visual Basic, and solves the problem of high-speed data acquisition. The CAT (Computer Aided Testing) system for internal thread ofjoint takes advantage of CAT technology to test a joint. The CAT system substitute manual testing method currently used in factory in order to lower manual error and improve testing precision and reliability. Developed in recent years, CAT technology is an integrated testing technology on the basis of computer. It comprise new sensor technology, data acquisition technology and data processing automation. The CAT system can automatically measure a joint in real-time. The system acquires sampling data, and stores them in the industrial computer. The computer calculates the data and displays results on the screen. As a real-time testing system, the CAT system interacts with outer environment. The CAT system also is a multi-tasking system. It not only tests and computes, but also responds the user operation. In order to realize real-time multi-tasking function, this paper introduces a method on the basis of multi-tasking mechanism. Data acquisition and computation is controlled by programming a background thread. This paper offers a method of using Visual C++ and Visual Basic to operate hardware, compute lots of data and inquire database. According to the experiment results, a conclusion is drawn in this paper that only using sampling thread can not fulfil the system data acquisition.
