The Theory And Empirical Study Of College Student Dormitory Culture

College student dormitory culture is a comprehensive process of learning knowledge, promoting communications and nurturing qualities with college students as the driving force and dormitory life as the basis. It is a very important part of the campus culture. College student dormitories are major places for college students to learn, entertain and relax, thus playing a very important role in shaping personalities and behaviors, forming values, and nurturing views of the human life and the world. To strengthen and improve the construction of college student dormitory culture is a complementation of the requirements of "Proposals on Further Strengthening and Improving Ideological and Political Education on College Students" issued by the central government, a pressing need to improve the ideological and political education on college students and an effective method to promote their healthy development.With college student dormitory as its carrier, college student dormitory culture as its research object, and improving the ideological and political education on college students as its purpose, the paper conducts a questionnaire survey and personal interview among 500 teachers and students, applies the data to analyze the major problems existing in the construction of college student dormitory culture and puts forward their coping strategies. The paper is divided into five parts.Part One:an introduction of the research background and significance; an exploration into the current situations of the college student dormitory culture; an introduction of the research methods and an outline of the research.Part Two:a theoretical study as the basis of the paper. Starting with defining concepts of culture, campus culture and college student dormitory culture, the author clarifies the relationship between campus culture and college student dormitory culture, analyzes characteristics and functions of the college student dormitory culture, and then highlights characteristics like infectiousness and constraints, sociality and diversity, potentiality and dynamicity and so on; functions like education, constraint, condensation and encouragement. The author tries to provide a clear theoretical path for readers.Part Three:an empirical study as the core part of this paper. With Jiangsu University as the case, the study is conducted to point out the major problems existing in the construction of college student dormitory culture under a questionnaire survey, personal interviews and field investigations and from perspectives of constructions of environmental culture, system culture and spiritual culture.Part Four:a strategy study as the final purpose of this paper. According to the analysis of the major problems existing in the construction of college student dormitory culture, the author puts forwards some coping strategies to provide suggestions and references for educational administration departments and college administrations. Hopefully, this research is beneficial to the development of the construction of college student dormitory culture, finally promoting the ideological and political education on college students and achieving the ultimate goal of higher education.Part Five:a conclusion. As the continuous advance in the socialized reform of university logistics, the construction of college student dormitory culture becomes more and more important. Although universities and colleges in China have accomplished great achievements in the construction of college student dormitory culture, there are still problems existing to be solved. The construction is a systematic project that needs cooperation between universities and colleges to integrate resources and creatively adopt diverse methods and forms to promote the development of college student dormitory culture.
