Mathematics is the foundation for science and technology, and for the development of various subjects. Mathematics Education occupies an important position in modern education. Mathematics Education is closely related to the national economy, and the improvement of mathematics education quality is helpful to enhance the national economic strength. Mathematics competitions play an important role in mathematics education in America. In order to improve students'mathematics achievement, and drive Mathematics Education reform, American holds mathematics competitions in different ranks and various forms. At present, mathematics competitions raise an embarrassing situation in China. In the view of exploring how to make the plight of China's Mathematics Competitions out of the current situation, this paper selected the American mathematics competitions for secondary school students as the research object. By analyzing the American Mathematics Competitions, try to extract positive affect on China's mathematics competitions, to promote the reform of our mathematics education and mathematics teaching.This paper aims to introduce the American mathematics competitions for secondary school students from national, state and district systematically. In order to deep understanding of American mathematics competitions for secondary school students, the author in research methods used the standard sampling methods.This paper is divided into four chapters:the first chapter introduces the history of American mathematics competitions for secondary school students systematically, and introduces the basic theory of the American educational philosophy and mathematics competitions, in order to aware general understanding of American mathematics competitions for secondary school students. The second chapter mainly uses the standard sampling methods to describe the American mathematics competitions for secondary school students from national, state and district to sort out and analyze. The third chapter tries to explore the characteristics and influence of American mathematics competitions for secondary school students. The final chapter is enlightenment. In this chapter, the author analyzed the status and problems of our mathematics competitions firstly, and learned the experience and lessons from that in America, and got some suggestions for the development of mathematics competitions in China.
