Higher education of China has entered a stage of popularized development. The transformation of Chinese economy has resulted in changes of the internal management system of higher education. According to the development course of western universities, it is an effective means for college students to participate in the management of colleges and universities. Higher education of nationalities is an important part of Chinese higher education, and as other colleges and universities, universities for nationalities in the course of development also need to allow students to participate in school management. This paper, drawing on the successful experience of western universities in which students can join in school management, first concludes China's research in this field, then attempts to construct a model that is suitable for Chinese students to participate in school management, through analyzing the history and characteristics of the universities for nationalities in our country.The logic of this paper is from foreign to domestic and from general to specific. It is made up of introduction, three main chapters and conclusion. The introductory section discusses the meaning and the multi-disciplinary basis for college students to join in school management, and the limitations of the research already done. The first chapter of the main body analyzes the successful experience in this area abroad and at home and its inspiration on the research in our country. Then the history and several major models for the college students in the western countries to join in the school management are also discussed. As there is a long history for university students to participate in school management in the west, their research achievements might be applied in the research of this area in our country. Looking back at the history of the university management in which students play a role, it can be easily noticed that we lack successful experience and models, which lead to further discussion in next chapter. Chapter two firstly makes a comparison of the present management models between the universities for nationalities and other universities in our country form the perspective of the policies and higher education for nationalities. Based on the distinctive characteristics of the colleges and universities for nationalities, the necessity and feasibility for college students to join in school management are discussed later in this part. Chapter three constructs a model for the students in universities for nationalities to join in school management, and describes the relevant safeguard measures. The model constructed plays an important role in the promotion of management in universities for nationalities and the harmony of all teachers and students. In the end of this paper, it is stressed that, due to the fact that the research in this area in our country currently is still in the pioneering stage, and because of the special nature of universities for nationalities, whether school management model for national college students to participate in can effectively apply and integrate into the existing colleges and universities management system must be further explored through the specific practical and theoretical research, which needs further study.
