"Grateful" thought, the traditional Chinese virtues, is not only an important component of Chinese traditional culture, but also an crucial part of the construction of social spiritual civilization today. However, for various reasons, the lack of thanksgiving among the contemporary college students has occurred from time to time, and it has sounded alarm to college Thanksgiving education. This article, based on college students' investigation on the current situation of the Thanksgiving education at universities, aims at finding out the difficulties and problems in gratitude and analysing recessive educational unique status and role which can help to further construct a systematical recessive Thanksgiving education model.Introduction section outlines the background and significance of this research, states the current research situation, and puts forward the author's own ideas and research methods. Besides, the introduction goes into five parts:The first part mainly defines the phrase "Thanksgiving " and "Thanksgiving education",and analyse its implicit characteristics in depth, which will lay a foundation for the invisible Thanksgiving education. As education and an inspiration of emotion, Thanksgiving education exerts subtle impact on students, which means that moral lectures in classroom cannot work as expected. Therefore invisible education must be allowed to play a part to its fullest extent in Thanksgiving education.The second part conducts a questionnaire and data analysis among five college students in Shanghai, summing up the problems in contemporary college students' awareness of Thanksgiving. The survey shows that college students mainly have three problems in their thanksgiving:first, in cognition they cannot figure out anything they should thank for; second, they have no gratitude feeling while realizing the favor from others; third, they have no idea about how to show their gratitude through behaviours.The third part focuses on the analysis of the reasons why contemporary college students lack of gratitude consciousness, mainly from the following following aspects: the means, methods, and problems in Thanksgiving education; the school, family and social environment; the characteristics of the college students'physical and mental development.The fourth part further studies the recessive characteristics and social significance in Thanksgiving education, pointing out that both the students'sound personality and the construction of socialism harmonious society request recessive gratitude. The recessive Thanksgiving education features hidden purpose, penetrating methods, initiative students, various and open educational resources and comprehensive and enduring effect. These characteristics will intensify educational effect by echoing with dominant educational way.The fifth part explores implicit Thanksgiving education on three levels which includes implementation requirements,ways and the process model, aiming at building an implementation system of the implicit Thanksgiving education in consistent with the physical and psychological characteristics of college students. The recessive Thanksgiving education among college students should be in combination with dominant education, and be implemented succesively and completely. And it should varies according to different students and themes so as to nurture the students in gratitude cognition and actions through emotion, activities and models.
