With the reform of basic education curriculum and the promotion of diversification in primary and secondary school curriculum teaching materials, the construction of our country's primary and secondary school textbooks has gradually showed the situation of "one standard and more than one editions" like all flowers is in bloom. In this paper, the design intention, which is between curriculum standards and textbooks, is considered as a standard. As an example of the "Xiang Juvenile Edition" primary school English textbook, the method of text analysis is used to investigate the achievement of textbook design intention. We try to find out the impact factors of textbook design intentions'achievement. And some suggestions are given for strengthening the transcendent deviances and reducing the negative deviances.The paper is composed of four chapters:Chapter one:The origin and significance of this research are briefly described. And then, the previous researches on the textbook design and compiling are reviewed. At last the program of this research was briefly explained.Chapter two:The basic issue on textbook design intention. In this part, the definitions of textbook, textbook design and textbook design intention are investigated in detail. And the boundary of the article and theoretical analysis framework were clearly defined. Chapter three: The analysis on the achievement of the textbook design. This part is based on the analysis of "Xiang Juvenile Edition" primary school English textbook. Firstly, "what's the design intention of the textbook" was deeply studied. And then, with the design intention as a standard, the achievement tropism was analyzed in faithful reflection, transcendence deviation and attenuation deviation three dimensions.Chapter four: The impact factors of textbook design intention. It is involved that designers'ideology, structure and composition, level of work and the understanding of the textbooks for the objects; the design intension of textbooks is inflexible for beneficiaries, lack of practical for text implementers, lack of attention for practice implementers; the textbooks easily involved that the designer's bias, limitations of knowledge forms, the relative lag of content, relative universality, some self-limitations and other reasons.Chapter5: The strategy of strengthening the transcendent deviances and reducing the negative deviances. Three angles in this part, which were the designers, design intentions and textbooks, were discussed how to strengthen transcendence deviation and weaken attenuation deviation.
