Nowadays, the idea of harmonious society has been accepted by more and more people. A harmonious society is supposed to be a happy society, in which happiness and well-being the ultimate goals of education, should be back to where it is supposed to be. Happiness education has become such an important teaching idea that so many scholars and experts are studying it with impressive result. Although a lot of teachers from Primary and secondary schools have set foot on the subject, the research is largely restricted on the level of psychology and school development. The teaching process of English has not been touched so far. Simultaneously, the great pressure of college entrance examination and "duck-stuffing" teaching cause the loss of senior students' happiness in learning English.Hence, the author, starting from her own working experience, employs the senior English textbook of Jiangsu Province--Advance with English-- as an example, and makes some research on the teaching strategies of increasing students' well-being in English learning. Serious theoretical study and empirical analysis are made. Frameworks are as follows.In the first chapter, present situation and requirements of modern education, as well as the loss of teachers' and students' happiness are analyzed, which make it important for the happiness education to be practiced.In the second chapter, the various comprehension of happiness in history, both home and abroad, is stated. And the meaning of happiness is discussed based on the ancient people's wisdom and efforts.In the third chapter, the present research on happiness education is summarized. It is found that the research on students' well-being in senior English teaching is rare. Hence, the essay's emphasis is laid on the bonding point of happiness education and senior English teaching, the influencing factors of students' happiness, teaching strategies, and ways to measure students' happiness.In the fourth chapter, the concepts of happiness sense and happiness index are stated, which provide basis for the research test. In the fifth chapter, the emphasis is laid on the accordance of happiness conception and the modern teaching ideology. Thus, the feasibility of the research is made clear. A teaching case is provided to concrete the author's initial ideas about happiness teaching strategies of English teaching.In the sixth chapter, the teaching research is described, in which a questionnaire is used. It is found that students' happiness in learning English has close relationship with the recognition of the subject, interpersonal relationship, self recognition, teaching methods, and learning contents.In the seventh chapter, the author shares her enlightenment and consideration after the teaching research. Some deficiencies are mentioned at the end of this chapter.
