The universities of China are on the way of reforming, while facing critical challenges. Teaching reform is not only the key to improve universities but also one of the pivotal factors to succeed for the reform in universities. The teaching reform in universities of china has nearly been on for 10 years. It hasn't reach its'anticipative effect in despite of delightful achievements in newly reforms. It drops far behind of the advanced universities in the world. There is a gap between China and the western countries in college teaching idea,college teaching content,college curriculum structure,college teaching mode,college teaching technique and so on. The root of our teaching system in universities hasn't changed at all. We have to think about it deeply. It has been undoubted in the west since 1980's that culture reform must go before any other social reforms. Culture is however ignored in our teaching reform. It is not strange at all that our teaching reform drifts into the plight. Culture plays an important role in the teaching reforms of China, and somehow, even acts passively. The thesis is due to find out the obstacles of culture in our college teaching reforms, and accordingly put forth strategies. It is my wish to find a way out for our college teaching reform.The thesis is divided into six parts.The first part displays the study background of the thesis,the value of the thesis,the foreign and domestic literature of the study together with the study technique.The second part surveys the prevenient conception of culture. It traces back to the derivation of culture in China and the western countries, mouses out the conception of culture in modern times and the present age, on the basis of which the conception of culture according to my study is given.The third part studies the status quo of our college teaching innovation in higher education. It introduces the results of our college teaching idea innovation,management system innovation,curriculum and teaching content innovation,teaching technique innovation and so on, from which, we can find the college teaching innovation in our country is in the plight.The forth part probs into the obstacles of culture in our teaching innovation in higher education from the culture of outside college to college culture. As for the culture of outside college, it is divided into Chinese traditional culture and the western culture to study the obstacles of college teaching innovation in our country. We find the root leading to the plight of college teaching reform in higher education in China. For Chinese traditional culture, They are the thinking mode of Chinese traditional culture,the absence of the consciousness of democracy and equality in Chinese traditional culture and the tendency of advocating promotion as a government official in Chinese traditional culture; For the western culture, they are terrific individualism,consumption idea and the inextricable contradiction in the west; For college culture, they are administration culture,teacher culture in college. All of these culture factors play passively in our college teaching reform.The fifth part put forth the strategies accordingly on the basis of the forth analysis.The six part is the end and point out the way to our college teaching reform in China.
