Art is a great treasure of human civilization. It represents the aesthetic creativity of human beings. The creation and appreciation of art is the supreme level of human spirit and the achievement of art lies not on how to portrait the reality or how to imitate the reality but on how to express the profound understanding that human beings have for the life and the world Based on a good knowledge of culture courses, such as literature, philosophy and aesthetics, the profound understanding is gained through rational meditation and keen feeling, so that culture courses have been an important part of curriculum at art colleges to provide students with deep sense of humanity, a healthy personality and a systematic knowledge structure. However, being always neglected, these courses have not performed well.This essay raises the case of culture courses at the Art College of Inner Mongolia University to analyze the current problems at art colleges. The essay employs methods as questionnaires, interviews with teachers and students and research on the teaching reform of the counterparts, with the relevant education and management theory, it puts forward the new way of thinking for the culture courses teaching at art colleges to push the furtherreform of teaching management on the path of character educationThe main past of this essay can be divided into five sections:The first section gives a brief introduction of teaching management of culture course at art colleges.The second section summarizes the current condition of culture course teaching management at art colleges.The third section proposes the general thinking of teaching reform of culture course: review the specialty of students at an colleges, rethink the updated cultivation objection, carefully analyze the best education concept, say character education, with the orientation of cultivating healthy character.The fourth section raises the resolution for the reform. It has a brief discussion of improving curriculum arrangement, building complete alternate course system, perfecting teaching assessing system, bettering teaching methods, promoting the comprehensive quality of teachers, and strengthening building a good atmosphere in the campus.The fifth section foresees the future of culture course at art colleges.This essay focuses on how to reform the curriculum and how to improve the position of culture courses at art colleges It borrowsthe experience of other art colleges, and strives to promote the quality of culture course so that these courses may effectively help to cultivate high-level artists.
