Investigation On Status And Influencing Factors Of Sexual Attitudes And Bahaviors Among Junior College Students In Changsha

ObjectivesTo understand the developing status of sexual attitude and behaviors of colleges students in changsha and analyze the main affecting factors,and to provide scientific evidence for effective intervention and sexual health education.MethodsA self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted among college students chosen from grade three in a medical college by multistage random cluster sampling and to explore the derminants of sex situation and behavior by Kruskal-Wallis H test, chi-square test, logistic regression and ordinal logistic regression.Results:1.The college student's sexual attitudesThe proportion of students'approval of phenomenon such as premarital sexual behavior, masturbation, premarital cohabitation, future spouse's sexual experience was higher than that of them such as sex between two men and between two women, the proportion of students' approval of the situations such as feeling beyond marriage, "One-Night-Stand", commercial sexual behavior, multiple sexual partners and unmarried pregnancy was lowest. Ordinal Logistic regression showed that sex, smoking, subject and family income were the main affecting factors of sexual attitudes among college students.2. The college student's Sexual BahaviorsThe incidences of marginal sex and Sexual intercourse among college students were respectively 47.6%(867/1830) and 12.7% (232/1830), male students was higher than female students (P<0.05). 86.2% of college students who had marginal sex were lover,94.8% of college students who had sexual intercourse were lover. Condom use rate were low during the first sexual experience, only 52.0% of them took contraceptive method in the first sexual intercourse,11.3% of female students having sexual intercourse had the experience of abortion. The main reasons for their first sexual behaviors were sexual impulses and love each other, the difference in gender shows obvious statistical significance (P<0.05). The logistic regression model indicates that areas, smoking or not and sexual attitudes were the main affecting factors of male lovers who occurred the marginal sex. single child, drinking and family income were the main affecting factors of female lovers who occurred the marginal sex. smoking, living with their parents before college and sexual attitudes were the main affecting factors of male lovers who occurred Sexual intercourse. And the areas, family income, smoking, drinking and sexual attitudes were the main affecting factors of female lovers who occurred Sexual intercourse.3. The college student's Sexual educationThe students surveyed believed that more heterosexual sex partners, occasionally having sex with others, gay, lesbian, and injection of illicit drugs with the risk of HIV infection were more than 79%, the degree of awareness on relevant knowledge about HIV infection are on a high level, and the difference in gender, subject were statistically significant (P< 0.05), and medical students'cognitive level are higher than other disciplines. The proportion of boys and girls whose sexual knowledge are mainly from media and the communication between classmate are more than 80%, while school and families hardly played a role in this aspect. The main contents college students want are the sexual physiological knowledge, sexual psychological knowledge, sexual moral education, pregnancy/sexually transmitted disease knowledge and knowledge of the sexual legal system. The survey also showed that the degree of awareness that sexual health education was carried out in the way of monthly brochures, establishing health counseling centers and dedicated education website was higher.Conclusion:1. Compared with the male students, female students were more conservative on the attitude of non-marital sex, but more tolerant on the attitudes of homosexual acts. In addition to premarital cohabitation, one-night stands and multiple sexual partners, the difference shows obvious statistical on other non-marital sexual attitudes among students of different subjects.2. The incidence of marginal sex in male lovers from the rural areas was higher than the male lovers from cities, and the incidence of sexual intercourse in female lovers from the rural areas was higher than the female lovers from cities.3. Condom use rate were low during the first sexual experience, which increased the possibility of abortion and sexually transmitted diseases.4. For college students, their main ways of obtaining sexual knowledge were internet, movie and video, books and magazines, and they know few about sex from the school and family.
