Experiment is the foundation of the chemistry subject, the basic methods of the chemistry research and teaching, the basic tools of verifying chemistry hypothesises and chemistry theories. Learning chemistry by experiments is one of the basic characters of chemistry teaching. But in the actual chemistry teaching process, teachers prefer to explain rather than do experiment and pay less attention on experiment by the restrction of teaching conditions and the effection of examination-oriented education system in high school. Therefore, the function of chemistry experiment is not fully actualized. The new chemistry curriculum innovation places emphasis on experiment teaching, cultivates innovation sense and practice ability of students, and improves the scientific literacy. The result of which is the better situation of chemistry experiment teaching. There are still a lot of problems in experiment teaching, yet.Based on this background, this study investigated the problems in experiment teaching through questionnaire and interview. At the end, the problems are solved by the subjective educational theory, constructivism and instructional design based on problem solving theories.There are four parts in this thesis.The first part is the background of the study. It mainly contains the phylogeny of experiment teaching, the domestic and abroad experiment teaching research, and disadvantages of high school chemistry experiment teaching in China.Based on the studies of chemistry experiment at present, it is concluded that reinforcing chemistry inquire experiment teaching is the general trend of chemistry teaching reform. Finally, the author introduces three new education theories as the instruction of the study .The second part is the survey and analysis. In order to investigate the implement of chemistry experiment teaching in high school under the new curriculum reform, the author carried out a questionnaire and interview survey in four high schools in Puyang city in China. There are the attitude to experiment, fulfillment of the experiments in textbook, the main methods of student experiments, experiment report writting, and evaluating of experiment in the survey. The result of this survey shows the unoptimistic experiment teaching situation, but there is a biger improvement in the experiment teaching than before. The phenomenon of teaching experiments by telling or drawing is fewer, and the main feature of the experiment teaching at present is teaching through demonstration experiment .The third Part provides some approaches and countermeasures to improve experiments teaching. In the situation of less chemistry hours, more teaching content, students' heavy burden and written test in chemistry exmination, teachers should carry on both classroom experiment and extra-class experiment teaching in order to obtain the curriculum object. In the progress of experiment teaching, teachers should emphasis both experiment and explaination, and encourage students to do experiment. By extra-class experiments, Students can experience science inquire process and know science inquire methods, so their innovation ability and problem solving ability, and their scientific literacy cultivate will be enhanced. To resolve the problem of learning evaluation, in the author's opinion, written test and portfolio evaluation should be carry on together, for these students who will learn chemistry or other related majors, they should do experiment test.The last part is the conclusion of the thesis. It includes the summary , reflection, shortage of the research and the questions should be discussed in the future. In the conclusion also Point out the innovations of the thesis is let the students carry on demonstration, and use an assessment system that is written test combined with portfolio assessment and skill test.
