Reproductive culture, as a special culture in human social activity, plays an important role in the culture system of human survival and development. This thesis has researched on a the Hui village——the Wawu village in midland, collecting a large number of data through questionnaire survey, in-depth interview, observation and participation in the field work, analyzing the reasons of the coming up of the reproductive culture in the Wawu village. Since 1970s when Chinese government proposed and carried out strictly the policy of birth controlling, the rapid increasement of the population is suppressed effectively, people's conception changed a lot in rural areas which in turn affects the birth-giving culture. The Wawu village is located in the urban fringe, and has a tradition of ethnic minority. Studying its reproductive culture has an important role in guiding the work of minority growth in central China and promoting our national unity.The first chapter introduces the domestic and international research on the progress and achievements of reproductive culture. It also introduces the Status of research on Culture of Minority and Fertility as well as the research theories and methods in this paper which are the traditional theory of size and field survey methods. This paper also defines and explains the phrase of "the Hui Village" and "gender preference".The second chapter introduces the basic situation of the Wawu village and the social economic development are, laying the groundwork for further research. The third chapter describes cultural status of the Wawu village from four sections of the reproduction, reproductive behavior, reproductive system and the culture with survey data. Fertility concept is the core of birth-giving culture, the paper expounds the concept of Fertility concept of the Wawu village from four aspects:reproductive purposes which no longer hold the traditional opinion of "large-family"to increase the family labor force. The villagers'thought is simple that family is complete when they have a child and child is the source of family happiness, another important purpose is to provide for the elderly. About the sex of the child, they change from the opinion of "patriarchal" to "treats them equally". The thought of "son preference " still exists to some extent from the influence of the traditional thought and objective factors. Concerning the children number, they always want one boy and one daughter, both sons and daughters promises their old-age security and emotional exchanges; in the aspect of quality, the villagers have no traditional thought that men and women differ a lot and give them the same attention and training. Reproductive behavior is an important part of reproductive culture, through the reproductive behavior we can know details of the reproductive culture at that time, the paper introduces reproductive behavior of the Wawu village from several aspects of prenatal preparation, postnatal practices and child rearing and education. Reproductive system is the guarantee and constraints of the formation of birth-giving culture, these systems can be divided into macro-systems and micro systems. Fertility atmosphere is some habits of community toward the reproductive.following the reform and the implementation of birth controlling, some unhealthy trends related to fertility are gradually disappearing, replaced by the modern civilized opinions. Chapter four analyzes the causes of reproductive Cultural of the Wawu village, culture change is root cause of birth-giving culture in the Wawu village, economic development is the direct promotion power,; education is the booster while system is the guide and the binding force.At the end of this paper, we draw a few simple conclusions based on the description of the reproductive culture in Wawu village that the traditional opinion of "patriarchal", "more children", "family line" in Wawu village have had great changes. Under the guidance of the national family planning policy, fertility behavior becomes more scientific. Meanwhile, the Muslim practices in Wawu village has been basically localized form living under the background of Han culture, forming their own unique characteristics different from traditional Muslim.
