This paper studied the connotations, the causes and the manifestations of the alienation of educational technology and proposed the relevant ways and means on how to dispel the alienation of educational technology. This paper argued that the alienation of educational technology manifested itself as the implementation of the negative value of educational technology and that there were many ways to dispel the alienation of educational technology from many aspects. This paper discussed the alienation of educational technology in the theoretical aspects and played a role in attracting the academic community to further study the issue.The alienation of educational technology was the process of the implementation of the negative value of educational technology. This paper discussed the alienation of educational technology mainly in the aspect of the implementation of the negative value of educational technology. The dispelling of the alienation of educational technology was just the dispelling of the negative value of educational technology.The manifestations of the alienation of educational technology were as follows:the neglect of the dominant position of people in the instructional system design; the weakness of the cultivation of human emotional factors in the distance education; the disappearance of the connotations and deep meanings of education in educational technology applications; the alienation of people's relations brought by the educational technology applications; the alienation of the human capacities and roles brought by the educational technology applications; the displacement, the negation, the coercion, the control and the disregard imposed on people by educational technology.The causes of the alienation of educational technology were as follows:the complexity and limitations of educational technology; the improper using of educational technology; the unpredictability of the outcome in educational technology applications; the impact of the conceptions of the values of educational technology; the competition between people and educational technology; the chauvinism extension of the technical rationality; the cultural responsibility of educational technology; the slavery effect of educational technology.The ways and means of dispelling the alienation of educational technology were as follows:dispelling the alienation of educational technology from the educational technology itself; improving and reforming the education system to dispel the alienation of educational technology; resolving the alienation of educational technology with moral means; emphasis on humanism in the process of educational technology activities; weakening the rational worship in the educational technology applications; establishing the benign interaction of relationships in the educational technology applications; advocating the guiding effects of life-oriented education philosophy acting on the educational technology applications; raising educational technology to educational arts.
