Research teams as the main force of technology innovation in colleges and universities. No matter how strong or weak the innovation capacity is, or how high or low the level of innovation is, it directly determines the position in the field of national scientific and technological innovation, and affects the level of national scientific and technological innovation. But recently the shortcomings of in the process of the promotion of university research teams' innovation capacity has become an outstanding issue of higher education, if there is still no reform of this issue, it will lead to an crisis which may draggle the technogical innovation of universities or even the whole nation. This paper concludes the depth study and analysis of the nature of teams' innovation capacity, the factors that effect the research teams' innovation capacity and the main problems and their causes. It is necessary and urgent for research teams'innovation capacity to find these problems and advance the strategies.This article contains six chapters. In the first chapter, it sets out the theoretical and practical meanings and summarizes the research situation at home and abroad then proposes the ideas and methods. Second it gives the concepts of university research teams and their innovation capacity, the management of university research teams'innovation capacity and states the theories of Team Theory, Group Dynamics Theory and Innovation Management Theory. Thirdly, by doing case study, this article summarizes the successful experience of university research teams in five well-known domestic and foreign universities. Based on the last chapter, it analyzes the nature of teams'innovation capacity and shows the factors which effect the process of promoting university research teams' innovation capacity in the fourth part. Filth, it uncovers the problems in the process of promoting university research teams' innovation capacity and deeply discusses the causes of that.In the six part of this article, it gives the strategies which may advance the university research teams'innovation capacity. And at last, the conclusion part overviews the whole research results and reveals both innovation and shortcoming in this article。It has two focal point in this paper, one is by doing case study, it analyzes the nature of teams' innovation capacity, which contains that group creativity is the core elements of teams' innovation capacity, which formed the key of teams'innovation capacity by the interaction mechanism that based on the knowledge sharing. And the explore enthusiasm is the important source to teams'innovation capacity. Meanwhile, by analysis a specific case to find out the factors of university research team, which includes the nature and task, structure, knowledge sharing, mentorship means, culture and environment, trust. And the upgrade of the strategies of university research team may be based on these. And then base on the revealing of the main problems and their causes of university research teams' innovation capacity, it gives the strategies to advance the university research teams' innovation capacity. This contains five points:1. To optimize the teams' leadership.2. To pay more attention on the structure of innovation teams.3. To create teams'culture environment.4. To build teams'knowledge sharing platform.5. To improve the valuation of teams'performance system.
