The village-official student, means that college student who will be village official in future.In 2008, the Central Organization Department jointly with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security held work forum for hiring college graduates to serve the rural, and planned to hire 100,000 college graduates to serve the village in five years. Up to now, the number of the Village-official student is more than 130,000. Although administrative village is the smallest administrative division in China, its work is very comprehensive and complex, including thevillagers'thought, economic development, financial management, neighborhood relations, family planning,cooperative medical care and rural education. So that, the village official position requires officials who have comprehensive ability, and excellent general literacy is an important guarantee for college-graduate village officials being competent to do their work. Conversely, the lack of general literacy will not only affect the sustainable development of the college-graduate village officials, but also waste human talents. Therefore, a research on the general education to cultivate the general literacy of the village-official student is of great significance.In this study, the author interviewed township cadres, village leaders, local villagers and college-graduate village officials in Henan Province, while conducted a questionnaire survey, to look into the basic requirements of the general literacy of students in rural areas and construct the questionnaire of characteristics of college-graduate village officials'general literacy. Then, the author conducted a questionnaire survey in the Village-official student from Henan Agricultural University and discovered some problems in the general literacy of them:Imperfect knowledge structure, being short of systematic or basic knowledge about legal, management and marketing; Unbalanced structure of capacity development especially organizational skills, verbal understanding ability, logical thinking and innovation ability; Indefinable values, lack of spirit of hard working, awareness of volunteer or social responsibility and weak affection between them and the farmers.Through analysis of these issues, the author found that the contradiction between narrow Professional Education and slow development of General Education is the most fundamental reason for these problems in the general literacy of the Village-official student. Therefore, the author proposed several measures:Problem-centered classroom teaching; Building dynamic teachers; establishing the special General Education authorities of the Village-official student.
