The 21st century is an economical era based on knowledge updating and technological innovation. The competition of the comprehensive strength between nations is the one of education and talent in the final analysis. In this case, competition among colleges and universities is mainly the contest of high-quality teachers (personnel). In China's colleges and universities, the phenomenon of brain drain is widespread that in varying degrees and by different manifestations. The loss of talents or brain drain, especially the loss of those with rich professional knowledge or experiences has some negative impact on teaching and research work in colleges, which must arouses our attention and thinking. It is necessary for us to do in-depth study and exploration about the brain drain problem in colleges and universities in order to find the solution to make it more and more perfect to train and maintain teachers in colleges.This paper is divided into three parts. First of all, it describes the status quo about the brain drain of colleges and universities. In this chapter, it describes the universality and gravity of the brain drain through a series of data, and we can see that, although colleges and universities are in different locations and with varying degrees of the brain drain, they have many characteristics in common. Besides, the paper further illustrates that the issue of brain drain causes a lot of negative effects on colleges and even the individuales related.The second part discusses, in detail, the main reasons for such serious brain drain in colleges and universities. It includes not only economic factors, such as treatment, low pay for teachers that makes them have no economic sense of security, but also includes a part of university level problems which failed to meet the needs of better development platform for teachers, as well as environmental factors, personal factors and so on. There are still some other reasons that cause the teachers to leave their universities. It is better for us to analysis the main reasons in-depth in order to solve the problem targeted. In the third part , this article mainly discusses the solutions from the angle of Human Resources Management of College, such as strict requirements of the recruitment, to strengthen the training teachers, to enhance the construction of campus culture, to formulate attractive salary policies and so on.This paper is based on a large amount of statistical data and literatures. The writer combines the theories and realities to bring forward the problem of talent loss and the methods of solving the problem. May the conclusion of this dissertation be beneficial to abate the problem of brain drain in colleges and universities.
